[Our Beginnings....

The history at Shadow Mountain Vineyards began more than six decades ago, when the first  vineyards were planted by Gus and his wife Helen Mase, both of Italian decent. The geography of the area and the beautiful surroundings of the mountain and the scenic vistas, reminded them of their homeland in the Piemonte of of northern Italy. A second generation of the family planted extensive vineyards in the 1960's and early 70's.

The  current owners, Alexander and Pamela McGeary acquired the estate in 1990 and have continued the tradition of growing and producing premium white , red and dessert wines in this unique microclimate, high in the mountains of northern San Diego County.

The present winery and production facility, rebuilt from a devastating forest fire in 1995, was opened to the public in 1996.
