Tempranillo 2018
Tempranillo 2018
Our Tempranillo is one of the few grapes we use that is not grown on the Shadow Mountain Vineyards property, but is still an "estate" wine, as the Shadow Mountain Vineyards team manages the vineyard where the Tempranillo grapes are grown - caring for the grapes all the way through the process to pick them and bring them back to the winery for fermentation and bottling. Volcan Vista Vineyards is the location of these grapes, in Warner Springs, near Ranchita, amongst a field of commercially-grown lavender. The grape is of Spanish descent, and has some spice with a softness of butter and dark plum fruit. Mild tannins, with pronounced acid, after 18 months aging in American oak.

We are currently pouring and selling the 2018 vintage, which has been submitted for competition in 2024; results are pending, but the prior 2017 vintage was awarded a Silver Medal at the 2021 OC Fair Commercial Wine Competition and a Silver Medal at the 2021 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition! We're confident the 2018 will receive awards!Wine Profile
